Second-Team Phil Steele's College Football Preview Preseason All-WAC (2008)
Quickly: Changing jersey number from 26 to 3... Enters fall slated as starting strong safety... Had breakout season last year and is expected to continue to have big performances this year. 2007 (So.): Played in all 12 games, starting 11... Third on team overall and led defensive backs with 84 tackles (45 solo, 39 assists) including 1.5 tackles for loss... Shared team lead of three interceptions with Roy Hurst, but led squad with 96 INT return yards, a total that ranked fourth in the WAC... Had a 64-yard INT return at Utah to set up a TD... Registered double-digit tackle outings in five of USU's last seven games of year including season-best 15 stops in season-finale at Idaho as well as 14 against Boise State... Ranked tied for fourth in the WAC with two fumble recoveries. 2006 (Fr.): Saw time as a backup safety as well as on special teams... Finished the year with 22 tackles, including an assist on a tackle for loss... Broke up one pass, while forcing two fumbles and recovering one... Made five tackles against Utah and matched that with five at Boise State... Forced and recovered a fumble on the same play at Boise State... Also forced a fumble at San Jose State. High School: Was a second-team all-state selection by Calhisports.com... Earned second-team all-Norcal honors as well... Was a first-team all-section and all-Sacramento honoree... Named the Metro Conference Defensive Most Valuable Player and tabbed as his team's MVP... Recorded 95 tackles with three interceptions, two sacks and two fumble recoveries as a senior... Returned 18 punts for 330 yards and two touchdowns, while also returning eight kickoffs for 214 yards and another score... Offensively he had 22 rushes for 160 yards and two touchdowns and 10 receptions for 189 yards and a score... Team was 12-1 and won its sectional championship... Was a first-team all-conference selection as a junior and earned honorable mention all-Sacramento and all-state underclassmen honors... Also competed in basketball and track.
