Aggie Defense Controls First Scrimmage of Fall Camp Saturday Morning

Utah State scored three touchdowns and added a field goal as sophomore running back Joe Hill had 100 yards rushing on 17 carries with one touchdown


Utah State Football Off And Running Following First Practice Friday

Friday was the first of 29 practices for Utah State leading up to its season-opener at home against Southern Utah on Thursday, Aug. 30 at 6 p.m.

2013 (SR): Played in 13 games and finished the season with 20 total tackles (9-solo, 11-assist)... Had a season-high three tackles against Air Force (9/7), Weber State (9/14) and Wyoming (11/30)... Had multiple tackles in seven games overall... Recorded his only tackle for loss against the Wildcats.

2012 (JR): Played in nine games and finished the year with 12 tackles (6-solo, 6-assists)... Had a pass breakup against Toledo (12/15) in the Famous Idaho Potato Bowl and recovered his first career fumble at 19th-ranked Louisiana Tech (11/17)... Tied his career-high with six tackles against Idaho (11/24) and made two stops at LT.

2011 (SO): Played in four games, returning to action after elbow injury in preseason... Tallied four solo tackles on the season, three at BYU (9/30) and one versus Ohio (12/17) in the Famous Idaho Potato Bowl.

2010 (RS-FR): Saw action in 11 games, making two starts... Recorded 28 tackles (22-solo, 6-assists) to go along with three pass breakups... Made a season-high six tackles versus Louisiana Tech (10/19), one of four games with at least four stops.

2009 (RS): Redshirted during his first season at Utah State.

HIGH SCHOOL: A three-year letterwinner at Millwood (Okla.) High School... Was named the all-city offensive player of the year as a senior, as well as the team MVP for both offense and defense, playing both wide receiver and cornerback, along with some quarterback... Had 1,076 yards receiving with 16 touchdowns in addition to 202 yards rushing with four touchdowns... Defensively, tallied 41 tackles with 13 pass breakups and three interceptions... Guided Falcons to the state 3A championship his junior season... Also a three-year letterwinner in basketball, helping Millwood HS to district title as a junior after the Falcons won the state championship his freshman and sophomore seasons... Also a four-year letterwinner in track & field, earning second-place in the 400m and running legs on state champion 4x100 and 4x400m relay teams... Helped Millwood to back-to-back state championships as a sophomore and junior... High school teammates with current Aggie wide receiver Brandon Swindall.

PERSONAL: Son of Chuck and Camille Sanders... Has three brothers... Graduated from Utah State in the fall of 2013 with an interdisciplinary studies degree emphasizing in sociology of sport.
