Andersen reiterated the importance of in-state recruiting for Utah State and announced that the team's current 104-player roster included 10 Cache Valley student-athletes and 51 in-state players.
Earned first-team all-Sunset League honors as both a junior and senior at Huntington Beach (Calif.) High School... Was also named the Sunset League Offensive Back of the Year as a senior along with being named his team's MVP and captain... As a senior, he threw for 2,505 yards (208.8 ypc) with 29 touchdowns as he set single-season school records for passing yards and passing touchdowns, which also led his league... Also rushed for 417 yards (5.87 ypc) and six touchdowns as a senior as he was named the Marine Corps Huntington Beach Athlete of the Year... Passed for 1,420 yards with eight touchdowns during his junior season, while adding 322 yards on the ground with eight rushing touchdowns... During his junior year, he led the Sunset League in passing yards and rushing touchdowns by a quarterback... Earned the Distinguished Athlete Award at Huntington Beach HS...
