In all, scouts from the Carolina Panthers, Cleveland Browns, Denver Broncos, Indianapolis Colts, Miami Dolphins, Oakland Raiders, Philadelphia Eagles, San Diego Chargers, San Francisco 49ers and Seattle Seahawks, along with the B.C. Lions of the Canadian Football League where in attendance Thursday.
Along with handing out individual awards, a highlight video recapping the year was shown, as was a video honoring USU's senior class, which tied the 1962 senior class for the most wins in school history with 26.
USU's defense ranked seventh in the nation in scoring defense (15.4 ppg), tied for sixth nationally in sacks (3.23 pg), eighth in the nation in pass efficiency defense (104.4), 13th in the country in rushing defense (113.8 ypg), 14th in the nation in total defense (322.1 ypg), and 32nd in the nation in passing defense (208.3 ypg).
UTAH STATE: The fastest wide receiver on the team... Has game-changing ability with his quickness and is very dangerous in space... Will be heavily involved in the punt return and kickoff return games... Is changing jersey number from 80 to 10.
2011 (JR): Played in all 13 games, starting five... Caught 20 passes for 218 yards with two touchdowns... Third on the team in receiving yards with a 16.8 average... Fourth on the team in all-purpose yards with 708 for 54.5 ypg... Rushed for 49 yards in seven attempts... Had at least two catches in seven games with a season-high four catches for 49 yards and one touchdown against Weber State... In a win at Hawai`i, had three catches for 50 yards and one score... Recorded a season-long 41-yard catch against San Jose State... Had 18 kick returns for a 24.5 yard average, ranking third in the WAC and 46th in FBS in kick return average... Registered a season-best 45-yard kickoff return against San Jose State, ending the game with a season-best and USU season-high 181 kickoff yards.
JUNIOR COLLEGE: Led Laney (Calif.) JC with 27 catches for 238 yards with two touchdowns... Also had six punt returns for 54 yards (9.0 ypr) as well as 13 kick returns for 386 yards (29.7 ypr), leading the Eagles in both kick returns and kick return yardage.
HIGH SCHOOL: Played football at Kennedy (Calif.) High School... Also lettered on the Kennedy basketball team, helping the Eagles to a 27-6 record his senior season... Also lettered in track & field.
PERSONAL: Born May 11, 1990... Son of Jesse and JoAnn Jacobs... Has seven sisters and five brothers... Majoring in interdisciplinary studies... Chose USU because of coaching staff and the football program.
