Utah State Football Starts Fall Camp Friday, Aug. 5

Fourth-year head coach Matt Wells welcomes back 12 starters (O-9, D-3) and 38 letterwinners (O-20, D-15, S-3) from last year's team that finished tied for second in the Mountain Division of the Mountain West with a 5-3 record, and played in its school-record fifth-straight bowl game.

RECORDS: Ranks tied for ninth all-time in school history for a single-season with 66 receptions... Set the single-game school record for yards per reception (34.6) as he caught five passes for 173 yards at No. 18 BYU during his junior season.

2015 (SR): Started 10 of the 11 games he played in... Earned second-team all-Mountain West honors and was also named second-team all-MW by Phil Steele’s Magazine... Finished the season ranking first in the MW and 28th in the nation in receiving touchdowns with nine (0.8 pg), second in the MW and 19th in the nation in receptions with 71 (6.5 pg), third in the MW and 41st in the nation in receiving yards (76.3 ypg), eighth in the MW and 85th in the nation in all-purpose yards (106.5 pg), and 11th in the MW in scoring (5.5 ppg), while also tying for second in the MW and tying for 11th in the nation in kickoff return touchdowns with one (0.09 pg)... Caught a team-leading 71 passes for a team-best 835 yards and a team-high nine touchdowns, to go along with two 100-yard receiving games with a career-high 193 yards against Air Force (11/14) and 100 yards against BYU (11/28)... Also returned seven kickoffs for 248 yards (35.4 ypr) and one touchdown on a 96-yard return against Nevada (11/21), had 10 punt returns for 64 yards (6.4 ypr) and carried the ball eight times for 20 yards (2.5 ypc)... His 96-yard kickoff return against Nevada is tied for the sixth-longest in school history... Set a Utah State bowl record with his 11 receptions against Akron in the Famous Idaho Potato Bowl as he finished the game with 89 receiving yards, including a 19-yard touchdown catch... Caught at least five passes in eight games during the season and at least seven passes in each of his final four games... Had a career-high 13 receptions for a career-best 193 yards, including a career-high three touchdown receptions at Air Force (11/14)... Those 13 receptions are the most by an Aggie since 2002, while the 193 receiving yards and three receiving touchdowns are the most in a game since 2001... Had seven receptions for 100 yards against BYU (11/28), seven receptions for 51 yards against Nevada (11/21) and seven receptions for 42 yards against No. 21 Boise State (10/16)... Added six receptions for 74 yards at Washington (9/19) and six receptions for 99 yards at Fresno State (10/10)... Had a 42-yard touchdown reception against Colorado State (10/3), touchdown receptions of 10 and 21 yards against No. 21 Boise State, a 45-yard touchdown reception at San Diego State (10/23), a 24-yard touchdown reception against BYU, along with his 19-yard touchdown reception against Akron... His three touchdown receptions against Air Force were from 41, 48 and 39 yards... Returned a career-high two kickoffs for 78 yards at Washington and two kickoffs for 28 yards against Colorado State... Also had an 18-yard kickoff return against Boise State and a 28-yard kickoff return against BYU, to go along with his 96-yard kickoff return for a touchdown against Nevada... Carried the ball a career-high four times for a career-best 12 yards against Boise State... Averaged 11.8 yards per reception on the season.

2014 (JR): Played in all 14 games, making 12 starts... Earned honorable mention all-Mountain West honors along with being named second-team all-Mountain West by both Phil Steele and College Sports Madness... Finished the season ranking first on the team in receptions (66), receiving yards (939) and receiving touchdowns (7)... Ranked tied for second in the Mountain West and tied for 54th in the nation in receiving touchdowns (7), fourth in the MW and 66th in the nation in receiving yards (67.1 pg), and eighth in the MW and 84th in the nation in receptions (4.7 pg)... Also carried the ball six times for 28 yards during the season and returned six kickoffs for 146 yards... Recorded two receptions for 37 yards, including a 37-yard touchdown catch in his Aggie debut at Tennessee (8/31)... Posted the first of four-straight 100-yard receiving games against Wake Forest (9/13) as he caught a season-high 12 passes for 138 yards... Had nine receptions for 130 yards, including a career-long 81-yard touchdown reception, in his next game at Arkansas State (9/20)... Earned College Football Performance Awards Honorable Mention National Wide Receiver of the Week honors in his following game at No. 18 BYU as he caught five passes for a season-high 173 yards, including a 72-yard touchdown reception... His average of 34.6 yards per reception against the Cougars is a single-game school record... He then tied his career-high with 12 receptions for 164 yards, including a 75-yard touchdown reception on the first offensive play of the game, against Air Force (10/11)... Had three receptions for 77 yards at Hawai'i (11/1), including a 70-yard touchdown catch, and caught five passes for 79 yards at Wyoming (11/7)... Also had a season-long 12-yard rush at Hawai'i... Is the first Aggie with four-straight 100-yard receiving games since Kevin Curtis had six-straight 100-yard receiving games to start the 2001 season... Led the nation with his four touchdown receptions of at least 70 yards (81, 72, 75, 70) and is one of just two Football Bowl Subdivision (FBS) players in the last five years to accomplish this feat along with USC's Marqise Lee in 2012... Returned six kickoffs during the season, including a season-high two for a season-best 63 yards against Air Force, which included a season-long return of 37 yards... Also had a 36-yard kickoff return at Hawai'i.

JUNIOR COLLEGE:Earned California Community College Athletic Association (CCCAA) All-Pacific Division first-team honors in the Southern California Football Association (SCFA) as a sophomore at Antelope Valley College in Lancaster, Calif., as he had 49 receptions for 657 yards (73.0 ypg/13.4 ypr) with six touchdowns... Also returned 15 punts for 199 yards (13. 3 ypr) with two touchdowns, and five kickoffs for 48 yards (9.6 ypr)... Had three 100-yard receiving games during his sophomore season, including a season-best 114 receiving yards on 10 catches with one touchdown against San Bernardino CC... Also had 110 receiving yards on six catches against College of the Canyons with two touchdowns, and 100 receiving yards on seven receptions against LA Pierce JC... Caught at least five passes in six different games during his sophomore season... Had 23 receptions for 304 yards (50.7 ypg/13.2 ypr) during his freshman season at Antelope Valley College with three touchdowns.

HIGH SCHOOL:Earned California Interscholastic Federation (CIF) all-Golden League first-team honors at wide receiver as a prep senior at Highland High School in Palmdale, Calif., as he caught 48 passes for 868 yards (18.1 ypr) with 10 touchdowns and rushed for 104 yards on 16 carries (6.5 ypc) with two touchdowns... Also recorded 37 total tackles as a senior to go along with one interception and one fumble recovery... Returned nine punts for 99 yards (11.0 ypr) and three kickoffs for 68 yards (22.7 ypr) as a senior... Had 25 receptions for 379 yards (15.2 ypr) with three touchdowns and 32 carries for 126 rushing yards (3.9 ypc) and one touchdown during his junior season, while returning four punts for 116 yards (29.0 ypr) and eight kickoffs for 281 yards (35.1 ypr).

PERSONAL: Born April 25, 1994... One of five children of Rodney and Valerie Sharp... Cousin, Derrick Johnson, is a linebacker in the National Football League for the Kansas City Chiefs... Graduated from Utah State in the fall of 2015 with an interdisciplinary studies degree emphasizing in health and wellness.
