Football Game Notes - 09/09/13
In all, scouts from the Carolina Panthers, Cleveland Browns, Denver Broncos, Indianapolis Colts, Miami Dolphins, Oakland Raiders, Philadelphia Eagles, San Diego Chargers, San Francisco 49ers and Seattle Seahawks, along with the B.C. Lions of the Canadian Football League where in attendance Thursday.
The session, which begins at 8:30 a.m. in the USU weight room, is not open to the public but is open to media.
Along with handing out individual awards, a highlight video recapping the year was shown, as was a video honoring USU's senior class, which tied the 1962 senior class for the most wins in school history with 26.
Cornerback Will Davis and running back Kerwynn Williams will participate in the 2013 NFL Scouting Combine, which will begin Saturday, Feb. 23 in Indianapolis, Ind.
Aggies have first scrimmage of spring, followed by interviews with head coach Gary Andersen, senior CB Terrence Alston, sophomore QB Chuckie Keeton, senior QB Adam Kennedy and senior RB Kerwynn Williams

2012 (SR): Named an honorable mention All-America by SI.com and a first-team all-WAC honoree as he finished the year ranking 10th in the nation in all-purpose yards (171.2 ypg), 13th in rushing (116.3 ypg) and tied for 20th in scoring (9.2 ppg)... Was named the Most Valuable Player of the 2012 Famous Idaho Potato Bowl as he rushed for a career-high 235 yards on just 18 carries (13.1 ypc) with three touchdowns in Utah State's 41-15 win against Toledo... Had 198 rushing yards in the fourth quarter alone on just seven carries as he had touchdown runs of 63, five and 25 yards... His 235 rushing yards tied for the second-most in the 15-year history of the bowl and were the 11th-most in a single-game in school history... He also tied his career-high with three rushing touchdowns against UT, which is also the second-most in Famous Idaho Potato Bowl history... Ended his Utah State career with four-straight 100-yard rushing games as he had a career-high 235 yards on 18 carries against Toledo in the Famous Idaho Potato Bowl, 110 yards on 17 carries against Idaho, 162 yards on 20 carries against Louisiana Tech, and 120 yards on 19 carries against Texas State to finish the year with seven 100-yard rushing games and eight in his career... Had 100-yards receiving and rushing in the same game twice this year as he had 20 carries for 162 yards on the ground against Louisiana Tech to go along with 125 receiving yards on four receptions.... Also had 113 yards rushing on 20 carries against UNLV to go along with a career-high 147 receiving yards on seven receptions... Is the first player in school history to record multiple 100-yard rushing and receiving games in the same season, and is one of three players to ever accomplish the feat... His 147 receiving yards against UNLV were the most by an Aggie since 2002 and the most by a non-wide receiver since 1959... Ends his career as the school and WAC record holder with 6,928 all-purpose yards (2,515-rushing, 870-receiving, 3,408-kick returns, 135-punt returns), which also ranks 11th all-time in Football Bowl Subdivision (FBS) history... He also ranks seventh all-time in school history in rushing yards (2,515), seventh in rushing touchdowns (22) and seventh in total touchdowns (28), while ranking fifth all-time in career rushing average (6.6 ypc)... Finished the 2012 season with 1,512 rushing yards to rank fourth all-time at Utah State for a single-season and is just the 11th player in school history to rush for 1,000 yards in a single-season... Also ranked second all-time in school history in a single-season in points scored (120), second in total touchdowns (20), third in rushing touchdowns (15) and third in rushing average (6.9 ypc)... Also ranked second on the team in both receptions (45) and receiving yards (697), while tying for first in receiving touchdowns (5)... Set the single-season school record for receiving yards (697) by a running back in 2012, while his 45 receptions are the second-most by a running back in a single-season in school history... Finished the year with 29 explosive plays (20-plus yards) with 21 runs and eight receptions... Also had eight rushes and three receptions of 50-plus yards on the season.
2011 (JR): A Preseason Hornung Award Watch List member, rushed for 542 yards on 81 carries, (6.7 ypc), which was No. 3 on USU's single-season rushing average list, and also had three rushing touchdowns... Added seven receptions for 63 yards and also had 36 kick returns for 817 yards (22.7 ypr), which ranked fifth in the WAC and 73rd in FBS... Also had seven punt returns for 98 yards (14.0 ypr), which would have ranked second in WAC, but did not meet the minimum requirement... Overall, totaled 1,520 all-purpose yards on the season, for an average of 121.5 ypg, ranking eighth in the WAC and 58th in FBS... Scored the Aggies' first touchdown of the season against Auburn, on a 43-yard run... Had a season-long 54-yard kickoff return against Wyoming... Was one of three FBS players in the nation to be named to the Paul Hornung Award Weekly Honor Roll on Oct. 10 after tallying 232 all-purpose yards in Utah State's 63-19 win against Wyoming, totalling 125 kick return yards, including a season-best 54-yard return that set up USU's first touchdown of the night, in addition to a 22-yard punt return to set up the Aggies' sixth touchdown of the first half, as well as adding 55 rushing yards and 30 receiving yards.
2010 (SO): Saw action in all 12 games, five as a starter... Led the WAC and ranked sixth in FBS in all-purpose yards per game (170.2 ypg) and also led the conference and ranked 21st in the country in kickoff return average (27.3 ypr)... Registered first career kickoff return for touchdown, with a 92-yard scamper at Nevada, and had three others of 67-yards or longer, with an 84-yarder in the New Mexico State game, a 70-yarder in the Idaho State game and a 67-yarder against BYU... Carried the ball 81 times for 451 yards and four touchdowns, including career-best 19 times for 147 yards with one touchdown in season-finale at Boise State... Added 12 catches for 110 yards, with season-high four receptions for 63 yards with a career-long 27-yard catch at Nevada... Also returned four punts for 37 yards on the season.
2009 (FR): Played in 11 games, not seeing action in season-opener, but every game from there on out... Was third overall in the WAC and 40th in FBS in kick return average (25.1 ypr), tying Kevin Robinson's average from 2004 for 10th on USU's single-season kick return average list... Was also ninth in the WAC and 93rd in the nation for all-purpose yards (103.7 ypg)... Led the WAC and was fourth in the country fototal kick returns with 45, a new USU single-season record... With 1,131 kick return yards, led the WAC and was tied for third in FBS for total return yards... Was the top freshman in the country for both total returns and total return yards, while ranking 10th among the nation's freshmen for return average... Logged season-long 75-yard return at Idaho, part of his five returns for 199 yards (39.8 ypr), the third-highest single-game kickoff return average in school history... Added six returns for 166 yards (27.7 ypr) at Hawai'i as well as six returns for 155 yards (25.8 ypr) along with five returns for 130 yards (26.0 ypr) at Texas A&M... Rushed for 10 yards on two carries on the season, all coming at Texas A&M with a long of nine-yards.
HIGH SCHOOL: Played wide receiver and running back as a junior before providing a serious dual threat element as a quarterback his senior season... Earned first-team all-state accolades as well as first-team all-region and first-team all-Northeast League honors, in addition to being selected as Valley (Nev.) High School's MVP... He was one of 50 finalists for the Old Spice Red Zone Player of the Year... As a senior, he had 188 rushes for 2,002 yards (10.7 ypc/182.0 ypg) with 31 touchdowns while throwing for 707 yards with three scores and adding 700 return yards... In his junior season of 2007, he had 108 rushes for 549 yards with six touchdowns as well as 18 receptions for 388 yards with five touchdowns... He also had one punt return for a touchdown in each season... Rushed for over 4,000 yards in his career as well as passing for 830 yards with 48 total touchdowns and 1,150 return yards... He maintained a 3.8 GPA... Valley High School is the alma mater of legendary baseball player Greg Maddux.
PERSONAL: Son of Kendall and Ingrid Williams... Has one brother and one sister... Graduated from Utah State University in the fall of 2012 with a bachelor's degree in marketing.
