Utah State Head Coach Gary Andersen
"First of all you look at Southern Utah and it's exactly what you saw on film; a tough hard-nosed group of kids. They play extremely hard and are well coached. In the first half, we jumped up,and they had that happen to them four or five times last year and they were able to come back and win games. They keep you on edge with the way they compete and the way they play. My hat goes off to them. They are a great group of kids. Ed and his staff do a great job."
"As far as we go, first game. We talked about the youth before the game. A lot of youthful mistakes we are going to need to correct if we are going to continue to get victories. It was a great win for us no question. A lot of young men played for us, especially in the second half, which will help us to evaluate a lot of different positions, from the running backs, to the defensive line, to the linebackers. A lot of young men got snaps in tonight, which is a huge positive. I can go on and on and on. Overall it's a good solid victory for our program. It's where we needed to be tonight. When we kicked it off we were hopeful of this outcome."

"I think (Utah State) was very well coached. They appeared to be very fast, their speed was a problem for us. Their strength was a problem for us. They blocked us; they blocked us off the ball. I don't think they threw the ball in the second half and they probably could have done that the whole game, they really
pushed us around."
"It is a great experience. We recruit guys to play games like this. We schedule games like this. We make it a point in our recruiting and this game made us better. Utah State made us better, that is why we schedule these games. That was a great football team that just beat us. They were hot at the end last
year; I think they remained hot. I watch them with great interest. I have several good friends on the staff. I wish them much luck and they did a hell of a job."
"There were some good things, we need to emphasize those and we need to get better at the things we didn't do so well. The speed of the game early on was a shocker to our guys. They adjusted to that and things calmed down just a little bit, but Utah State was clearly the better team and the better coached team."

"Tonight was a great night. Offensively we came out very well. Towards the middle, we hurt ourselves with penalties, but the lineman blocked very well tonight. They made holes and I just used my ability and used my speed."
"I feel like the running backs have so much pressure from last year because of Robert Turbin and Michael Smith, but we are trying to step our game up and go just as hard as they did last year."
"I was excited tonight. Today was a very exciting day for me. I did not expect to play as much but Kerwynn (Williams) got a little tired and was cramping a little bit. I had to step up tonight."
