SAN JOSE, Calif. -
Utah State Head Coach Matt Wells
"I thought it was a total team effort. I thought we ran the ball really well on offense but the bottom line is when the ball got into the red zone, we bowed up again and the defense played really, really good red zone defense. I thought they got off the field early, and we got enough ahead of them to be able to dictate what we wanted to do and play the game we wanted to and so for that I'm happy with them."
"I don't think we played our best in a few areas which is good to know that we still got more left."
"It's hard to win on the road in conference and those kids now it. Those veterans know it, and if you're going to have a chance to win the league or to be in the race in November, you have to win on the road early in the year. We're 2-0, and that's the only goal we had was to be 2-0 by midnight."
On three interceptions after not having any prior to this game:
"I thought we had good coverage all night. We got some rush and some things in David's (Fales) face, and we got him out of his rhythm a little bit. A tremendous amount of respect for him and the gutsy performer he is, but I'm happy with those guys on the back end, I thought they played well."
On the team's running game:
"That's something we wanted to do was come in and establish the run. Just proud of those guys up front."
On San Jose's turnover at the USU goal line on the first drive of the second half:
"Big momentum changer in the game!"
On Chuckie Keeton:
"He's elusive. That's one of his God-given abilities. A lot of times, the first guy misses, and he did a nice job out in the open."
