LOGAN, Utah -
Utah State Head Coach Gary Andersen:
"First of all I want to say it's a great victory. I want to start off by saying the crowd was awesome and the fans were vocal. It was full. It was just a tremendous environment. The 'White Out' was great. The people came and supported the kids, and it was great to see it full. So I want to thank you. It's important to the kids; it's important to all of us. That's a big time Division I atmosphere and its great to see."
"Overall a game of big plays. Chuckie (Keeton) and Kerwynn (Williams) had a tremendous game. We started a little bit slow. We have to get rid of the unforced errors and the penalties or it will cost us a football game. Overall tremendous effort. The kids played hard for all four quarters. We did a lot of good things."
"We will get started on BYU tomorrow. We can't understate this tremendous victory.
It was very satisfying and it was great to see the big plays. I would like to be able to get us a couple of grinding drives, but it was great to see the big plays. It is a couple weeks in a row we have finally been able to get a win in the fourth quarter. It was great to finish a game out."
"I thought the defense was solid. This is a good running and play action team. The defense bowed up especially with the turnovers. I thought we were stout."
UNLV Head Coach Bobby Hauck:
"First of all, they are a good team. They did a nice job tonight. They are a pretty good outfit. They did some good things; a couple things stick out in my mind. One, the big play hurt us. The two screens on third-and-eight and third-and-nine I believe, were not good by us, good by them. The explosive play, we didn't have enough and they had too many. I thought they won the battle up front on both sides. They were a physical team; we knew it was going to be like that. We were down our two starting tackles about midway through the third, (Brett) Boyko couldn't go, (Yusef) Rodgers was out. That didn't help us obviously. On a good note, I don't think they had given up a touchdown in the first half. We had the lead 7-3,
which was a positive. I think this was the fifth game in a row where we haven't given up a point in the third quarter. We are playing well in the first and third quarters, the second and fourth killed us and that is where they won the game. Good for them, they did a nice job tonight."
Utah State Sophomore Quarterback Chuckie Keeton:
"We started off with some very positive plays, and we kind of shot ourselves in the foot with penalties. That is something that we need to work on this week and get under control. That is the biggest thing. The offensive line had an amazing game. They gave me a lot of time and opened up some huge holes for Kerwynn, Robert Marshall and Joe Hill. Our wide outs, running backs and tight ends made some huge plays, and they are the real heroes. If we keep this up we should be able to carry this momentum into the next game."
Utah State Senior Running Back Kerwynn Williams:
"I'm excited about tonight. Things were good for the most part, but there are still some things that we can work on as an offense. I thought we started out kind of rough, got ourselves in some bad positions. We picked up too many penalties, and that puts us in a bad spot. I think the defense once again held their heads up high all night. Having a defense like that allows us to take more chances on offense."
"I don't think my effort was anything special at all. I just came out with a strong intensity and tried to play as strong as I had in any other game."
hey just continue to improve week in and week out and that's a good thing for us."
Utah State Junior Linebacker Jake Doughty:
"Defensively, we played alright. We definitely have some things to work out, but I felt like - especially after that first quarter - we played hard. We just need to bring the intensity and bring a little bit more focus."
