UTAH STATE FOOTBALL POST-GAME NOTES vs. Idaho (11/24/12)TEAM NOTES USU is now 10-2 on the season and set the single season school record for wins, bettering the 1960 (9-2-0) and 1961 (9-1-1) teams that both won nine games. USU won its first outright league championship since 1936 and just its third in school history joining the 1921 and 1936 teams that won Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference honors. Overall, it is USU's 11th conference championship in school history joining the 1921, 1936, 1946, 1960, 1961, 1978, 1979, 1993, 1996, 1997 and 2012. With its win, Utah State went 6-0 in WAC play tying the 1936 USU team (6-0-1 RMAC) for the most conference wins in a single-season in school history. Also, this is the first time in school history that a USU team has gone 6-0 in league play. USU improved to 6-0 at home this year marking just its fourth undefeated home season in the 45-year history of the facility joining the 1968 (4-0), 1972 (5-0) and 1982 (4-0) teams. Overall, USU's six home wins this year is a single season school record bettering the 1931, 1935 and 1972 Aggie teams that all won five home games. USU has now won eighth-straight home games and improved to 16-7 at home under head coach Gary Andersen including an 8-6 WAC mark. Overall, USU's current eight-game home winning streak is its longest since the 1966-68 teams also won eight-straight home games, which ranks tied for the seventh longest home winning streak in USU history. USU has now won six-straight games overall, which is its longest winning streak since 1961 and tied for the fifth-longest winning streak in school history. USU is now 15-3 in its last 18 games for its best 18-game stretch since the 1962-64 teams also won 15 of 18 games. With its 45 points today, Utah State has now scored at least 38 points in each of its last six games, extending its current school record. USU improved to 3-1 all-time as an AP ranked team. USU has now won 11 straight WAC games to extend its school record. USU's senior class won its 25th game during its four-year career which ranks tied for second all-time in school history along with the 1963 team. The school record for wins by a senior class is 26 set by the 1962 team. USU has now led at the half in 11 of its 12 games this year (trailed 6-3 at BYU) and has a 244-54 scoring advantage in the first half this year. In its last five games, USU has allowed 12 first half points with two field goals by Idaho and single field goals by UTSA and Louisiana Tech. Overall, USU has not trailed at any point in its last five games. USU did not score a touchdown on its opening series of the game for the first time in six games dating back to the BYU game (Oct. 5). USU's three interceptions are its most in a single game since intercepting three passes at Idaho in 2007. USU has now intercepted a pass in five straight games and has had multiple interceptions in three games this year (UTSA, LTU, UI). USU now has a 131-6 scoring advantage in the first quarter this season allowing a pair of field goals to San Jose State and UTSA. Overall, Idaho is the 10th opponent this year not to score in the first quarter against USU. Furthermore, USU is the only team in the nation to not allow a first quarter TD this season. USU has now scored first in 11 of its 12 games this year and San Jose State (FG) is the only team to score first against USU this season. USU had four scoring drives of five or fewer plays today and now has had 32 scoring drives of five or less plays on the season. USU did not allow a TD for the second time this year (SUU) marking the first time since 1994 when that Aggie team had two games were it did not allow a TD. USU had a season-low 117 passing yards, while its 250 yards of total offense was its second-fewest this year (243 at BYU. USU allowed 52 passing yards, which is a season-low and the fewest since North Texas had 45 passing yards in 1998. The 210 total yards allowed by USU are its third-fewest this year. Utah State has now won seven-straight games in November and is 11-3 in November under Andersen.
