Utah State Football Has Several Ties To Super Bowl XLVII This Weekend

LOGAN, Utah - Utah State football has ties to both teams participating in Super Bowl XLVII this weekend as two members of the San Francisco 49ers coaching staff and one member of the Baltimore Ravens coaching staff spent time at USU.
Baltimore tight ends coach Wade Harman played linebacker at Utah State in 1986 after transferring from Drake and finished the season ranking second on the team with 91 tackles. Harman then spent the next five years on the USU coaching staff serving as a graduate assistant for two years (1987-88), before coaching the tight ends for two years (1989-90) and the running backs for one year (1991). Harman earned his master's degree in health, physical education and recreation from Utah State in 1988.
San Francisco special teams assistant Tracy Smith spent three years on Utah State's staff (2006-08) coaching the tight ends. And San Francisco head strength and conditioning coach Mark Uyeyama served as the head strength and conditioning coach at Utah State from 2004 to 2007.
Utah State has also had five former Aggies play for the 49ers in Len Rohde (OT), 1960-74; Clyde Brock (DT), 1962; Clark Miller (DE), 1962-68; Bob Gagliano (QB), 1986-87; and Rod Moore (WR), 1994.
Former Aggies who have played for the Ravens include Jed DeVries (OT), 1996 and Patrick Scales (LS), 2011.
