LOGAN, Utah -
A plethora of activities surround Saturday's Utah State football spring game, highlighted by USU Athletics' new logo unveiling as well as HURD Bowl III, before the Blue-White Spring Game presented by Orbit Irrigation Products, which starts at 2 p.m. (MT) at Merlin Olsen Field at Romney Stadium.
Admission for all of Saturday's events is free to the public.
The press conference will start at 12:30 p.m. and will be held in the Spetman Auditorium on the second floor of the Jim & Carol Laub Athletics-Academics Complex at the north end of Romney Stadium. For those individuals who will be unable to attend the press conference, live streaming of the event will be available via USU's website at www.utahstateaggies.com.
Representatives from Utah State Athletics and Nike will be present at Saturday's press conference to provide additional comments on the scope and benefits of the brand and identity program.
Fans attending the spring game will also have the opportunity to see the new uniforms prior to the start of the game, as the student-athletes who modeled the uniforms at the press conference will also be introduced onto the field at approximately 1:50 p.m.
Merchandise bearing the elements of the new marks will be available for purchase at the USU Bookstore stand on the south concourse of Romney Stadium. Following the Blue-White Spring Game, merchandise will be available both on campus and at other licensed retailers in the Logan area. The new logos, designed by Nike, will replace all current Utah State logos for official athletic use and with all USU merchandise.
The HURD Bowl III semifinals will start at 12:30 p.m., followed by the championship game at 1 p.m. on the turf of Merlin Olsen Field at Romney Stadium. The teams will be coached by current Aggie players, with Team 1 under the leadership of RB Kerwynn Williams and CB Will Davis. Team 2 will be coached by WR Matt Austin and LB Bojay Filimoeatu while Team 3 will be guided by OL Tyler Larsen and LB Terell Thompson and Team 4 will be led by S McKade Brady and WR Travis Van Leeuwen.
Orbit will be at the game sharing simple steps to save water and money with their "Protect You Home Turf" campaign. They will also be offering fans a chance to sign up to win the "Ultimate Bowl Package" with tickets, travel, meals, and lodging.
Saturday will also be the last opportunity for fans to take advantage of the Utah State football season ticket renewals and new sales for the 2012 season are available at 2011's prices, as the south ticket office will be open Saturday at Noon through the end of the scrimmage.
