Matt Austin Signs Free Agent Contract With Seattle Seahawks

LOGAN, Utah - Former Utah State wide receiver Matt Austin has signed a free agent contract with the Seattle Seahawks it was announced Saturday.
Austin will join former Aggie teammates in linebacker Bobby Wagner and running back Robert Turbin on the Seahawks roster. Wagner was drafted in the second round (47th pick) of the 2012 NFL Draft by Seattle and Turbin was drafted in the fourth round (106th pick) of the 2012 NFL Draft by the Seahawks. Wagner was the runner-up for Defensive Rookie of the Year last season in the NFL.
Austin becomes the third Utah State football player from the 2012 Western Athletic Conference championship team to move on to the NFL as cornerback Will Davis was drafted by the Miami Dolphins in the third round (93rd pick) of the 2013 NFL Draft and running back Kerwynn Williams was drafted by the Indianapolis Colts in the seventh round (230th pick).
Austin, a 6-2, 202-pounder from Monrovia, Calif. (Charter Oak HS/Mt. San Antonio JC) earned second-team all-WAC honors in 2012 as he finished the season leading Utah State in receptions (48) and receiving yards (729), and tying for first with five receiving touchdowns, while his 56.1 receiving yards per game average ranked ninth in the WAC.
Austin also had two 100-yard receiving games as a senior with 124 yards on four catches against Texas State, and 119 yards on five catches against Southern Utah, and is the first Aggie with two 100-yard receiving games in the same season since 2006.
For his career, Austin caught 83 passes for 1,253 yards with 11 touchdowns
