Al Lapuaho Signs Free Agent Contract With St. Louis Rams

LOGAN, Utah - Former Utah State defensive lineman Al Lapuaho has signed a free agent contract with the St. Louis Rams it was announced Saturday.
Lapuaho becomes the fourth Utah State football player from the 2012 Western Athletic Conference championship team to move on to the NFL as cornerback Will Davis was drafted by the Miami Dolphins in the third round (93rd pick) of the 2013 NFL Draft and running back Kerwynn Williams was drafted by the Indianapolis Colts in the seventh round (230th pick), while wide receiver Matt Austin signed a free agent contract with the Seattle Seahawks.
Lapuaho, a 6-3, 284-pounder from West Valley City, Utah (Granger HS/Snow College) earned first-team all-WAC honors in 2012 as he led all USU defensive linemen and finished the year ranking 10th on the team with 35 tackles, to along with 4.5 tackles for loss, 3.0 sacks, four quarterback hurries, one forced fumble and one pass breakup. Lapuaho was the first Aggie defensive lineman to earn first-team all-conference honors since John Chick in 2005.
Lapuaho, who played in all 26 games during his two-years at Utah State, finished his career with 66 total tackles (16-solo, 50-assists), including 7.0 tackles for loss and 4.0 sacks to go along with two career forced fumbles.
