Chuck Jacobs Signs Free Agent Contract With San Francisco 49ers

LOGAN, Utah - Former Utah State wide receiver Chuck Jacobs has signed a free agent contract with the San Francisco 49ers it was announced Saturday.
Jacobs becomes the fifth Utah State football player from the 2012 Western Athletic Conference championship team to move on to the NFL as cornerback Will Davis was drafted by the Miami Dolphins in the third round (93rd pick) of the 2013 NFL Draft and running back Kerwynn Williams was drafted by the Indianapolis Colts in the seventh round (230th pick), while wide receiver Matt Austin signed a free agent contract with the Seattle Seahawks and defensive lineman Al Lapuaho signed a free agent contract with the St. Louis Rams.
Jacobs, a 6-0, 178-pounder from Richmond, Calif. (Kennedy HS/Laney JC) earned honorable mention all-conference honors as a senior in 2012 as he ranked third in the WAC and 41st in the nation in kick returns (24.1 ypr), and eighth in the WAC in all-purpose yards (93.8 ypg). On the season, he had 41 receptions for 608 yards with five touchdowns to rank tied for first on the team. Jacobs finished the season with one 100-yard receiving game as he caught four passes for 101 yards with two touchdowns against UNLV.
During his two years at Utah State, Jacobs played in all 26 games and caught 61 passes for 826 yards (13.5 ypr) and seven touchdowns. He also returned 42 kickoffs for 1,020 yards (24.3 ypr) and two punts for 40 yards (20.0 ypr).
