Aug. 27, 2007

Aggie Fact of the Day:
Utah State head coach Brent Guy is 3-1 all-time vs UNLV as a coach (head and assistant) for USU.

Aggie Tidbit of the Day:
The Aggies have played in August only five times since 1957 and they are all in the last 16 years, as 1991 was the first August season-opener... USU has a 2-3 record in August, however the Aggies are 2-0 at home in the eighth month of the year... USU is 1-0 on Aug. 30, beating Utah, 20-17, at Romney Stadium on Aug. 30, 1997... Matt Sauk scored TD with 5:37 left and Johndale Carty had an INT with 1:18 to seal the victory.

LOGAN, Utah - Due to the rare Thursday game, Utah State football practiced on Monday, the first day of classes for the first time in head coach Brent Guy's tenure. However, the head coach was pleased with practice.

In addition to classes and practice on Monday, Guy along with senior RB Aaron Lesue and junior DE Ben Calderwood were the featured speakers at the Big Blue Scholarship Fund Football Coach's kickoff luncheon.

While speaking to his team after practice, Guy commended the Aggies for their focus and tempo during practice, as USU continues preparations for Thursday's home and season-opener against UNLV at 6:05 p.m. at Romney Stadium.

Thursday not only marks USU's first non-Saturday game since Nov. 11, 2004, but the Aggies' earliest season-opener since 2003 and the earliest home-opener since the season before.

Football tickets are available through the USU Ticket Office at the Dee Glen Smith Spectrum, online at www.UtahStateAggies.com and clicking on "tickets" in left column, or by calling 1-888-U-STATE-1 or (435) 797-0305.
