LOGAN, Utah - Utah State football player Chuckie Keeton has been named the America First Credit Union Utah State Student-Athlete of the Week for the period ending Sunday, Sept. 8, in an award that is voted on by a state-wide media panel.

This is Keeton's first time winning the honor this season, but the award has gone to him six other times in his career.

Keeton, a 6-2, 200-pound junior from Houston, Texas (Cypress Creek HS) tied his own school record with five touchdown passes (30, 23, 20, 36, 1) in handing Air Force its worst home loss since 2005. Against the Falcons, he completed a career-high 32 passes and tied his career-high with 40 pass attempts, while throwing for 360 yards, which is the second-most in his career. Keeton also rushed for a game-high 77 yards on just eight carries, including a 30-yard run, to become the 25th player in school history and just second quarterback to rush for 1,000 yards in a career.

On the season, Keeton ranks first in the Mountain West (MW) and third in the nation in total offense (418.0 ypg), second in the MW and tied for sixth in the nation in completions (31.5), first in the MW and 20th in the nation in passing efficiency (175.9), second in the MW and 10th in the nation in passing (337.0 ypg), and sixth in the MW and 60th in the nation in rushing (81.0 ypg).

This accolade is one of several awarded to Keeton after his standout performance at Air Force. He was named the Earl Campbell Tyler Rose Player of the Week, one of eight quarterbacks named to the Manning Award Stars of the Week list, as well as earning honorable mentions for the Davey O'Brien Quarterback of the Week and National Quarterback of the Week honors from College Football Performance Awards.

After starting the season on the road for their first two games, the Aggies will play on Merlin Olsen Field at Romney Stadium Saturday, Sept. 14 as they host in-state foe Weber State for the annual Homecoming game. Kickoff is at 6 p.m.
