Romney Stadium (25,513)
Logan, Utah

QUICKLY -- Utah State (3-7, 2-4 WAC) welcomes the ESPN network to Logan for the first time ever for the Aggies' battle with No. 6 Boise State (10-0, 5-0 WAC), on Friday, Nov. 20... Kickoff for USU's home finale is slated for 7:30 p.m. at Romney Stadium (25,513)... Friday is USU's Senior Night, as the Aggies will be honoring their 15 seniors.

SENIOR NIGHT -- USU will recognize 15 seniors Friday night who will be making their final Romney Stadium appearance in an Aggie uniform... That group includes DT Alan Bishop, WR Xavier Bowman, S James Brindley, LB Adrian Bybee, WR Chase Griffiths, WR Nnamdi Gwacham, LB Paul Igboeli, DE Antonio May, C Brennan McFadden, TE Jeremy Mitchell, CB Kejon Murphy, WR Omar Sawyer, PK Chris Ulinski, LB Chris Williams and TE Zac Zimmerman.

FRIDAY'S STORYLINES -- Things to watch for in Friday's battle between the Aggies and Broncos:

-- ESPN2's broadcast is the first-ever visit to Logan by the network for a football game... It is the first time that USU has been on national television since the 1997 Humanitarian Bowl game in Boise, Idaho, which was also televised on ESPN2.
-- With a No. 6 ranking, Boise State is the highest ranked opponent to visit Romney Stadium since No. 6 Oregon came to face the Aggies on Sept. 29, 2001.
-- That was the only other time that USU has faced a 6th-ranked opponent.
-- The Broncos have been nationally ranked in each of the last three meetings with the Aggies, ranked No. 9 last year, No. 19 in 2007 and No. 13 in 2006.
-- USU is 6-1 all-time on Nov. 20, winning its last three in a row on the date.
-- Last Saturday's win guaranteed Utah State its first winning home record since 2003 when USU was 3-2.
-- BRRR-ing your long johns, as Friday's forecast is calling for rain and snow showers with a low temperature of 23 degrees.
-- Friday features a pair of quarterbacks who take care of the ball, as USU junior QB Diondre Borel and BSU sophomore signal-caller Kellen Moore each have only thrown three interceptions, the fewest in the WAC... Borel had the third-longest streak in the country with 228 pass attempts without an interception, which was halted at Hawai'i, while Moore owns the 12th-longest streak with 135 attempts.
-- Moore leads not only the WAC, but the NCAA in pass efficiency at 172. 5 while Borel is fifth in the WAC and 48th in the NCAA at 133.3.

UTAH STATE NOTE-ABLES

BRRRRR-ING YOUR LONG JOHNS -- Friday's forecast is calling for rain and snow showers with a low temperature of 23 degrees... The average temperature for Logan on Nov. 20 is 33 degrees with a record high of 66 in 2007 and a record low of 6 in 1994... The average high is 43 while the average low is 23... If the temperature is below the freezing point of 32 degrees, it will be USU's second game in a row with below-freezing weather as last Saturday's game-time temperature was 28 degrees.

USU VS. THE TOP 25 -- USU will be playing its 52nd game all-time against a ranked team (Boise State is No. 6 in this week's AP poll) and is just 1-50 against teams in the AP poll... The Aggies are 1-10 at home vs. a top 25 team... The Aggies' lone win against a ranked team was a 20-19 upset of 25th-ranked Fresno State in 1991... Since then, USU has lost 25 straight games against ranked team... Friday marks the 19th time during the 2000's decade that USU has faced a ranked team - here is a look at those games:

AGGIES VS. NO. 6 -- The Aggies will be playing a No. 6 ranked team for the second time ever, as the only other time was Sept. 29, 2001, when Heisman Trophy candidate Joey Harrington helped Oregon pull away for a 38-21 win over USU, after the score was 24-21 after three quarters.

USU VS. RANKED BOISE STATE -- Friday is not just the 189th anniversary of an 80-ton whale attack that inspired the novel Moby Dick, but it also marks the fourth year in a row that Utah State has faced Boise State when the Broncos are ranked in the AP Top 25 Poll... USU has been out-scored in the three previous meetings 150-24, an average of 50-8... In Boise State's last visit to Logan in 2007, the 19th-ranked Broncos bucked the Aggies, 52-0.

THREE RANKED OPPONENTS -- Friday's match-up with No. 6 Boise State marks the third-straight season that USU has played at least three ranked opponents in the same season after playing No. 19 Utah on Sept. 3 and No. 20 BYU on Oct. 2, losing both by identical 35-17 scores, and sixth-ranked Boise State on Friday... Overall, it is the fifth time since 1957 that the Aggies have faced at least three ranked opponents in the same season, with last year's four as the most... The five times that USU has faced at least three ranked opponents:

1991

USU IN NON-SATURDAY GAMES -- Ironically, all three of USU's games this season vs. a ranked opponent are also on a non-Saturday... Utah State has lost 15 straight non-Saturday games since winning the Las Vegas Bowl against Ball State on Friday, Dec. 17, 1993... Seven of those last 15 games have been against BYU on Friday nights (all losses), with a Monday appearance in the 1997 Humanitarian Bowl (lost 33-19 to Cincinnati) and a Friday 42-33 win against Ball State in the 1993 Las Vegas Bowl... Here is a look at USU's last 10 non-Saturday games, including its two others from this season, believed to be the Aggies' most non-Saturday games in school history:

UTAH STATE-BOISE STATE LAST TIME
#9 BOISE STATE 49, UTAH STATE 17
November 8, 2008 • Boise, Idaho • Bronco Stadium

BOISE, Idaho - Utah State was bucked by the ninth-ranked Broncos of Boise State, 49-14, on Nov. 8 at BSU's Bronco Stadium, dealing the Aggies their second loss to a Top 10 team this season. USU falls to 2-8 overall and 2-4 in Western Athletic Conference play while the Broncos remain undefeated at 9-0 overall and 5-0 in WAC action. The Aggies have lost their last five trips to Boise and eight in a row to the Broncos overall in falling to 4-11 vs. Boise State. It marked just the second time ever and the first since 1972 that USU has played two top 10 teams in the same season. Boise State was USU's fourth top 25 opponent this year, marking the first time since 2001 and just the second time since 1957 that the Aggies have faced that many top 25 ranked teams. USU had 305 yards of total offense, but six turnovers and a season-high 13 penalties thwarted any chance the Aggies had of an upset. Boise State amassed 458 passing yards on the way to 563 yards of total offense. Senior QB Sean Setzer came off the bench to throw for a career-best 226 yards with two TD's on 19-of-33 passing, including a 51-yard scoring strike to sophomore TE Doug Barbour late in the second half. That pass sent USU into halftime trailing, 28-7. Barbour was one of a season-high 12 different receivers to catch a pass for a total of 261 yards, USU's second-best passing total behind 262 at Nevada on Oct. 18. It was Barbour's first career TD. USU now has 10 different receivers with a TD catch, doubling last year's total and the most since at least 1978. Junior WR Omar Sawyer had a team-high four catches for 37 yards while redshirt freshman RB Robert Turbin added three receptions for 51 yards, including a career-long 29-yard TD catch from Setzer. Turbin's TD catch on the Aggies' opening drive of the second half pulled USU within 28-14 with 13:41 to go in the third quarter, but did not score again as BSU pulled away with 21 unanswered points. USU recovered a BSU fumble on the Broncos' next drive at the Aggies' 27. After driving out to midfield, a USU fumble gave the ball back to Boise State. The Broncos capitalized six plays later on a 17-yard end-around TD pass. Kellen Moore threw for 362 yards on 27-of-36 passing for Boise State, tossing two TD's passes, as four different players had TD throws, including a two wide receivers and the back-up QB, part of the Broncos' traditional bag of razzle-dazzle trick plays. Jeremy Childs had two TD catches as part of his seven receptions for 135 yards, while Ian Johnson led the Boise State rushing attack with 10 carries for 35 yards and a TD. Defensively, Utah State was led by senior LB Jake Hutton's season-high 14 tackles, two off his career-best. It was Hutton's fifth double-digit tackle outing this season and the seventh in the last 13 games, as well as the 12th of his career. Senior DT Ben Calderwood and senior LB Paul Igboeli added eight stops each, with Calderwood recording a tackle for loss, a forced fumble and a fumble recovery while Igboeli notched a pass break-up. Junior S James Brindley tallied seven stops and had his second interception of the season.

Boise State, ranked No. 19 in the country, nearly matched their first quarter points with its ranking in cruising to a 52-0 win over Utah State on Nov. 10, 2007 at Romney Stadium. The Broncos scored 17 first-quarter points in dealing the Aggies their first shutout loss of the season. It was Senior Day, as Utah State honored its 15 seniors with a pre-game ceremony prior to USU's final home game of the year. Boise State won its 16th-straight WAC game in improving to 50-3 all-time in the WAC. The Broncos have won the last seven in a row against the Aggies and now lead the all-time series, 10-4, including 6-2 in games played at Logan. Boise State has won those last seven games by a combined score of 338-150, an average of 48.3-21.4. The 52 points is the third-most ever scored in the series (BSU 66 in 2000 and 63 in 2002) and Saturday was the first shutout in the series by either team. Utah State had 236 total offense yards, with 82 rushing and 154 passing. It was just the third time this season that the Aggies did not reach the 100-yard rushing mark. Senior QB/P Leon Jackson III was 7-of-15 for 95 yards, while sophomore QB Jase McCormick was 4-of-8 for 57 yards, but threw three interceptions. Junior QB Sean Setzer saw his first action of the season, completing his only pass attempt for two yards. McCormick led USU with 32 rushing yards, while junior TE Rob Myers had five catches for 66 yards, as both led the team in their respective categories for the second time this season. Senior WR/KR Kevin Robinson was held to a season-low 77 all-purpose yards and did not have a reception, snapping a 16-game streak of having at least one catch, dating back to the Idaho game on Sept. 30, 2006. Defensively, sophomore S James Brindley led USU with a career-high 14 tackles, while freshman LB Kyle Gallagher also had a career-high with 11 stops. Senior DE Frank Maile tallied a career and game-high two tackles for loss. Boise State ended with 484 yards of total offense, marking the sixth time this season that the USU defense has allowed more than 400 yards of total offense. The Broncos had 294 yards passing and 190 yards rushing. Ian Johnson had 110 yards rushing in three quarters of action and Taylor Tharp was a scorching 26-of-29 passing for 283 yards and two TD's. The Broncos scored on their opening drive on a 8-yard run by Titus Young, the first of his three TD's on the day. At the end of the Aggies' first drive of the game, BSU blocked the punt and Ia Falo scooped up the ball and scampered 16 yards to the end zone to put BSU up 14-0 in just over six minutes into the game.
