Bobby Wagner Earns America First Credit Union Utah State Student-Athlete Of The Week Honors

Nov. 23, 2009

LOGAN, Utah - Utah State football player Bobby Wagner has been named the America First Credit Union Utah State Student-Athlete of the Week for the week of Nov. 16-22, it was announced on Monday. The award is voted on by a state media panel.

Wagner, a sophomore linebacker from Ontario, Calif. (Colony HS) tied a career-high and posted a team-best 13 tackles Friday night in USU's 52-21 loss to No. 6 Boise State. Wagner added one tackle for loss as part of his five solo and eight assisted tackles, which ties his career-high of 13 stops from the Texas A&M game. Wagner resumes his spot atop the WAC tackles leaders, now with 106 and 9.2 per game. The 106 give USU a 100-tackle linebacker for the third year in a row (Jake Hutton, 102 in 2007 and 110 in 2008).

This is Wagner's first America First Credit Union Utah State Student-Athlete of the Week award this season, and he becomes the fourth different football player to earn the accolade and the fifth time that a football player has collected the honor.

Wagner and the Aggies (3-8, 2-5 WAC) will play their season finale on Saturday, Nov. 28 against Idaho (7-4, 4-3 WAC). Kickoff from Moscow, Idaho is set for 3 p.m. (MT). The game will be televised on Altitude/ESPN Regional.
