Utah State's Jaron Bentrude Earns College Football Performance Honors for Second Straight Week

LOGAN, Utah - Utah State's Jaron Bentrude has earned honorable mention National Punter Performer of the Week honors from College Football Performance Awards (CFPA) following Utah State's 35-7 win against Wyoming this past weekend.

A junior from Salt Lake City, Utah (Juan Diego HS), this is Bentrude's second time in as many weeks receiving the award.

Against the Cowboys, Bentrude punted six times for an average of 43.3 yards with a long of 50 yards and had five of his punts downed inside the 20, including one inside the five.

Tennessee's Michael Palardy was named the CFPA National Punter Performer of the Week, while Bentrude shares honorable mention accolades with Austin Rehkow (Idaho), Sam Irwin-Hill (Arkansas), Steven Clark (Auburn), Jamie Keehn (LSU), Connor Kornbrath (Iowa), Pat O'Donnell (Miami), Tom Hornsey (Memphis), Tommy Hibbard (North Carolina), Cody Mandell (Alabama), Landon Foster (Kentucky), Ben Skaer (New Mexico) and Nick O'Toole (West Virginia).

Bentrude has punted extremely well during his last two games as he has punted 15 times for an average of 40.1 yards with 13 of his punts downed inside the 20 and four of his punts downed inside the 10.

On the season, Bentrude ranks ninth in the Mountain West with an average of 39.6 yards on 64 punts. Overall, he has had 28 punts downed inside the 20 and 12 punts downed inside the 10.

Up next, Utah State will play No. 24 Fresno State in the inaugural Mountain West Championship game on Saturday, Dec. 7 at 8 p.m. (MT). The game will be televised nationally on CBS.
