SAN DIEGO, Calif. - After leaving Ogden via a charter airplane at approximately 7 p.m. Sunday evening following weather and flight delays, the majority of Utah State's football team arrived at its team hotel at 8:45 p.m., where they were greeted by representatives from the San Diego County Credit Union Poinsettia Bowl.
Another flight with the rest of USU's travel party left Salt Lake City later that evening and joined the team in San Diego.
The Aggies are in town to begin preparations for the San Diego County Credit Union Poinsettia Bowl, which will be played on Thursday, Dec. 26 at 7:30 p.m. (MT) against 24th-ranked Northern Illinois and televised nationally on ESPN.
Upon arrival at the hotel, the team got together for dinner and had some free time to enjoy the southern California evening weather before bed check.
Utah State will begin bowl preparations in full Monday morning with their first practice in California on San Diego State's campus from 8:20-10:00 am (PT), before USU head coach Matt Wells and Northern Illinois head coach Rod Carey will address the media in the bowl game's only pre-game press conference at 10:30 a.m. (MT). Both teams will then participate in the Landmark Aviation Luncheon on the USS Midway, before concluding the day with a Make-A-Wish Reception from 6-7:30 p.m. (PT).
Utah State (8-5, 7-1 MW) will conclude its 2013 season in the San Diego County Credit Union Poinsettia Bowl against No. 24 Northern Illinois (12-1, 8-0) on Thursday, Dec. 26 at 7:30 p.m. (MT). The game will be televised nationally on ESPN. USU is 1-0 all-time against the Huskies.
