Utah State's Seokwon Jeon Tied for Eighth Following First Round at Pat Hicks Thunderbird Invitational

Utah State's Seokwon Jeon is currently tied for eighth-place with a 2-under 70 after the first round of the Southern Utah hosted Pat Hicks Thunderbird Invitational held here Monday at the Sunbrook Golf Club.
Utah State currently sits in sixth-place in the 10-team field with a 9-over 297. Heading into the final round Tuesday, USU is just seven shots out of second-place and 13 shots out of first-place.
Utah Valley has a six shot lead on the field after the first round with a 4-under 284, while Boise State's Logan France and UVU's J.T. Timmons both carded rounds of 5-under 67 to sit atop the leaderboard.
Jeon, a sophomore from Salt Lake City, Utah shot an even par 36 on his front nine before firing a 2-under 34 on his back nine for his 2-under 70. During his opening round, Jeon carded five birdies to tie for the second-most in the field.
Senior Tanner Higham (Shelley, Idaho) is tied for 17th-place at 1-over 73, while sophomore Brennan Coburn (Layton, Utah) and freshman Braxton Miller (Boise, Idaho) are both tied for 36th after shooting 5-over 77's. Sophomore Reed Platke is also competing for USU and is currently tied for 47th-place with a 7-over 79.
Tee times for the final round of the Southern Utah hosted Pat Hicks Thunderbird Invitational will begin Tuesday morning at 9 a.m., and USU will be paired with players from Dixie State and Southern Utah.
