Utah State's Seokwon Jeon Finishes Tied for Third at Pat Hicks Thunderbird Invitational

Utah State's Seokwon Jeon shot a final round 2-under 70 to tie for third with a 4-under par 140 at the Southern Utah hosted Pat Hicks Thunderbird Invitational held here at the Sunbrook Golf Club.
Utah State finished the tournament tied for fourth-place out of 10 teams with an 8-over 584 (297-287) as the Aggies shot a final round 1-under 287, which was the second-best team score of the day. USU, who began the final round in sixth-place, has now recorded four top-five finishes on the season in just six competitions.
Utah Valley's J.T. Timmons took medalist honors as he shot a tournament-record 10-under 134 (67-67).
Jeon, a sophomore from Salt Lake City, Utah followed up his 2-under 70 on his first 18 holes with another 2-under 70 during his final round to finish tied for third with a 4-under 140. Overall, Jeon's third-place finish is his second-best tournament finish at USU as he now has four top-10 finishes on the season, including winning the 2013 Utah Invitational last fall with a collegiate-best 7-under 206 (67-71-68).
Senior Tanner Higham (Shelley, Idaho) finished tied for 10th for Utah State with a 1-under 143 after rounds of 73 and 70, marking his third top-10 finish this season and the ninth of his career.
Jeon and Higham both recorded eight birdies and one eagle during the Pat Hicks Thunderbird Invitational as the duo were both 3-under on the par 5's over 36 holes.
Freshman Braxton Miller (Boise, Idaho) finished tied for 34th with a 7-over 151 (77-74) for Utah State, while sophomore Reed Platke tied for 37th with an 8-over 152 (79-73), and fellow sophomore Brennan Coburn (Layton, Utah) tied for 45th with a 10-over 154 (77-77).
Utah State will continue its spring schedule next week as it travels to City of Industry, Calif., to compete in the Cal State Fullerton hosted Folino Invitational on Monday and Tuesday, Feb. 17-18.
