Utah State junior Tanner Higham (Shelley, Idaho) is currently tied for 14th-place after carding a 3-over 75 during the opening round of the Cal State Fullerton hosted Folino Invitational held here at the Industry Hills Golf Club at Pacific Palms on Sunday.
Utah State currently sits in eighth-place in the nine-team field with a 21-over 309. UC Irvine has a four-shot lead on the field after the first round with a 2-over 290, while Long Beach State's Raymond Ho and Sacramento State's Ryan Williams both posted 3-under par 69 to sit atop the leaderboard.
Freshman Reed Platke (Whitefish, Mont.) is tied for 26th for Utah State after carding a 5-over 77 during his opening round, while fellow freshman Seokwon Jeon (Salt Lake City, Utah) is tied for 34th with a 6-over 78. Senior Kris Sayer (Idaho Falls, Idaho) is tied for 42nd after carding a 7-over 79, and senior Brendan Dennis (Roosevelt, Utah) is tied for 47th after posting a 10-over 82.
Teams will tee off on Monday, Feb. 18 in the second round of the Folino Invitational beginning at 8:20 a.m. (MT). USU will be paired with players from Oakland and Cal State Northridge and begin play at 8:40 a.m. (MT). The final round of the Folino Invitational will be played on Tuesday, Feb. 19.
