Utah State's Seokwon Jeon Shoots Collegiate-Low Round To Finish Tied for Fourth at Wyoming Hosted Cowboy Classic

Sophomore Seokwon Jeon carded a collegiate-low 7-under 63 during his final round Tuesday to finish tied for fourth-place with a 4-under 206 (71-72-63) at the Wyoming hosted Cowboy Classic held here at the Talking Stick Golf Club, North Course.
Utah State finished the tournament in 11th-place with a 26-over 866 (290-302-274) after shooting a final round of 6-under 274 for the second-best team round of the day and the third-best team round of the tournament, not to mention its best team performance dating back to at least the 1990's according to available records. USU began its final round Tuesday tied for 16th-place in the 21-team field with a 32-over 592 (290-302).
Oklahoma won the team championship with a 9-under 831 (275-285-271), while the Sooners Michael Gellerman took medalist honors by one stroke with a 6-under 204 (66-70-68).
Jeon (Salt Lake City, Utah) began his record-setting round Tuesday with a 5-under 30 on the front nine before carding a 2-under 33 on his back nine as he finished the day with seven birdies and no bogeys. The 7-under 63 by Jeon is the best round by an Aggie golfer since Brendon Ehlers carded an 8-under 63 at the Boise State hosted Bronco Roundup on Oct. 10, 2005.
Jeon also tied his collegiate-best 54-hole score Tuesday with his 4-under 206, matching the 206 he shot at the Utah Invitational last fall to win that tournament at 7-under par (67-71-68). Jeon began his final round of the Cowboy Classic tied for 27th-place at 3-over 143 (71-72).
Freshman Braxton Miller (Boise, Idaho) also had his best day as a collegiate golfer for Utah State on Tuesday as he carded a collegiate-low 70 to finish tied for 46th-place with an 8-over 218 (73-75-70), which is his best 54-hole score and best tournament finish at the collegiate level.
Senior Tanner Higham (Shelley, Idaho) finished tied for 54th-place with a 9-over 219 (73-75-71), junior Grahm Schmaltz (Kalispell, Mont.) tied for 72nd-place with a 14-over 224 (73-80-71) and freshman Eli Rogers (Hamilton, Mont.) tied for 92nd-place with an 18-over 228 (77-81-70).
Utah State will return to action next week as it competes in the UC Santa Barbara hosted OGIO Intercollegiate on Monday and Tuesday, April 14-15.
