2014 MW Men's Golf Championships - Final Results Get Acrobat Reader

Utah State golfer Braxton Miller carded a career-low 3-under 68 during his final round to finish tied for 22nd-place with a 7-over 220 at the 2014 Mountain West Men's Championship held here Sunday at the Catalina Course at Omni Tucson National Resort.

Utah State finished the 11-team tournament in ninth-place with a 33-over 885 (298-295-292) and was just two strokes away from tying for seventh.

New Mexico won the Mountain West Championship with a 6-under 846 (279-281-286), while San Diego State finished second with a 3-under 849 (281-288-280) and UNLV placed third with a 1-under 851 (280-295-276). Air Force was fourth with a 9-over 861 (287-295-279), Colorado State was fifth with a 22-over 874 (292-294-288), Nevada was sixth with a 26-over 878 (296-290-292), San Jose State was seventh with a 31-over 883 (292-308-283), Wyoming was eighth with a 32-over 884 (290-303-291), Utah State was ninth with a 33-over 885 (298-295-292), Fresno State was 10th with a 51-over 903 (307-299-297), and Boise State was 11th with a 52-over 904 (293-306-305).

New Mexico's Gavin Green (70-69-70) and San Diego State's Riccardo Michelini (68-71-70) finished tied for first after 54 holes at 4-under par 209, and Green won the individual title with a par on the first playoff hole.

Miller, who tied for the third-best round of the day Sunday, began his final 18 holes with an even-par 35 on the front nine as he had one birdie and one bogey. On the back nine, Miller carded an eagle, two birdies and one bogey for a 3-under 33 to finish with a career-best 3-under par 68 to tie for 22nd-place at 7-over 220 (76-76-68). That 22nd-place finish for Miller is the best tournament finish of his collegiate career and just two strokes shy of his best 54-hole total. Miller began his final round tied for 40th-place at 10-over par.

Sophomore Reed Platke finished the tournament tied for 27th-place for Utah State at 8-over 221 (75-69-77), junior Grahm Schmaltz tied for 33rd-place at 10-over 223 (74-77-72), sophomore Seokwon Jeon finished tied for 38th-place at 12-over 225 (73-76-76), and senior Tanner Higham finished tied for 50th-place at 19-over 232 (82-74-76).

The 2014 Mountain West Championships concludes Utah State's season.
