Utah State's Tanner Higham Finishes Tied For Eighth At WAC Championship

HENDERSON, Nev. - 2012 WAC Golf Championships - Final Results Utah State finished in eighth-place with a 55-over 919 (294-313-312), while San Jose State won the team championship with a 12-over 876 (290-291-295). Four-time defending WAC champion New Mexico State finished second with an 18-over 882 (293-290-299), followed by Fresno State who finished third with a 22-over 886 (287-301-298). Idaho was fourth with a 28-over 892 (287-303-302), Louisiana Tech finished fifth with a 38-over 902 (304-305-293), Nevada was sixth with a 45-over 909 (301-304-304), Hawai'i finished seventh with a 47-over 911 (304-298-309) and USU was eighth. San Jose State's Jay Myers won the individual title as he defeated New Mexico State's Justin Shin with a birdie on the first playoff hole. Overall, Myers finished the tournament with a 5-under par 211 (69-71-71). Higham (Layton, Utah) had five bogeys and just one birdie during his final round as he shot a 4-over 76. Higham began the tournament by shooting a 4-under 68, and then fired a 5-over 77 during his second 18 holes. Higham's eighth-place finish at the WAC Championships is USU's best since Devin Daniels was the individual runner-up at the 2007 WAC Championships after shooting a 7-under 209 (69-66-74). Freshman Tanner Jenson (Parker, Colo.) finished the tournament with an 11-over 83 for Utah State and tied for 24th with a 13-over 229 (72-74-83). Freshman Brennan Coburn (Layton, Utah) shot a 5-over 77 Wednesday to finish tied for 33rd with a 20-over 236 (80-79-77), while fellow freshman Andrew Paulson (Sandy, Utah) finished 35th with a 22-over 238 (75-84-79) after carding a 7-over 79 during his final round. Senior Chanse Godderidge (Smithfield, Utah) also competed for the Aggies and finished tied for 38th with a 26-over 242 (79-83-80) after shooting a final round of 8-over 80.
