Aggie Golfers In 12th-Place After Day One At Falcon Invitational

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - Utah State's Benjamin Schilleman carded rounds of 72 and 68 and is currently tied for seventh-place with a four-under par 140 after the first two rounds at the Gene Miranda Falcon Invitational held here Saturday. As a team, Utah State is in 12th-place with a 13-over 589 (297-292).
Utah leads the 19-team field after shooting a 12-under 564 (276-288) and UNLV is currently in second with a nine-under 567 (281-286). Northern Colorado's Steve Bidne and Utah's Mike Branca both sit atop the leaderboard at seven-under 137.
Schilleman, a junior from Layton, Utah, fired an even-par 72 during his first round and then shot a four-under 68 in his second round and is just three shots off the lead heading into Sunday's final 18 holes. Junior teammate Tyson McFarland (Rexburg, Idaho) is currently tied for 17th with a one-under par 143 after shooting rounds of 73 and 70. Senior Thad Truman (Blackfoot, Idaho) is tied for 70th at six-over 150 (76-74), and freshmen Austin French (Idaho Falls, Idaho) and Tanner Higham (Shelley, Idaho) are tied for 91st and 102nd, respectively, with 36-hole scores of 156 and 159.
Utah State will conclude the tournament with 18 holes on Sunday with tee times beginning at 8:30 a.m.
