Men's Golf Finishes 14th At Purple & Red Invitational

Junior Devin Daniels (Smithfield, Utah) carded a four-under par 68 in the second and final round of the 2007 Purple & Red Invitational here at the Valley View Golf Course on Tuesday to finish tied for third individually with a five-under 139. Utah State finished the tournament in 14th-place with a team score of 600 (299-301). Boise State finished first overall with a two-day score of 567, while Utah (568), Idaho (570), Wyoming (576) and Weber State (579) rounded out the top five. Troy Merritt (Boise State) finished first individually with an eight-under par 134, while Mike May (Wyoming) placed second with a seven-under 137. Daniels tied Ben Weyland (Idaho) for third as both players shot 71's on Monday and 68's on Tuesday to finish five-under with scores of 139. Finishing second individually for Utah State was freshman Toph Peterson (Logan, Utah) who finished tied for 61st with a 10-over 152. Juniors Tyler Labrum (Roosevelt, Utah) and Alex Putnam (Mesquite, Nev.) tied for 77th with identical scores of 155, while junior Brandon Broadhead (Brigham City, Utah) tied for 90th with a 159. Freshman Thad Truman (Meridian, Idaho) participated as an individual competitor during the two-day event and finished tied for 99th with a 162.
