Aggie Golfers Finish In Ninth-Place At Oral Roberts Shootout

Utah State's Toph Peterson finished 23rd individually with a 13-over par 229 to help Utah State's men's golf team finish in ninth-place out of 12 teams at the Bob Hurley Auto Oral Roberts Shootout held here Monday and Tuesday. USU finished with a team score of 926 with rounds of 312, 311 and 303.
In three tournaments this fall, Utah State has finished in the top 10 each time with a seventh-place finish, a ninth-place finish and a 10th-place finish.
Texas State won the team title with a 10-over par 874 (293-290-291) as the Bobcats Corey Roberson took top individual honors with a four-under 212 (68-69-75), and teammate Jeff Gerlich tied for third with a two-over 218 (75-71-72).
Peterson, a senior from Logan, Utah, finished the tournament by shooting an even par 72 during the final 18 holes, which was the best individual round by a USU golfer. Peterson began the tournament with rounds of 76 and 81 on Monday.
Senior Tyler Labrum (Roosevelt, Utah) was Utah State's second-best finisher as he placed 33rd with a 17-over 233 (79-77-77). Sophomore Benjamin Schilleman (Layton, Utah) finished with an 18-over 234 (80-75-79) to finish tied for 34th, while senior Devin Daniels (Hyde Park, Utah) tied for 40th with a 20-over 236 (77-84-75). Junior Thad Truman (Meridian, Idaho) also competed for USU and carded scores of 78 and 79 in his final two rounds after withdrawing during his first 18 holes on Monday morning.
Utah State will return to action on Monday and Tuesday, Oct. 20-21 when it travels to Cedar City, Utah, to face Southern Utah in a Ryder Cup style duel.
