LOGAN, Utah - Utah State's men's golf team rallied from a 7-3 deficit during day two of Ryder Cup-style play against Southern Utah, but it wasn't enough as the Aggies lost to SUU, 11.5 to 8.5, on Sunday at the par-71, 6,082 yard Logan Golf & Country Club.

Utah State's Thad Truman (Meridian, Idaho) got the Aggies off to a fast start Sunday morning, winning his match against John Lindsay, 3&2. However, USU was unable to sustain that momentum and lost the next two matches. Utah State's Nate Putnam (Mesquite, Nev.) and Tyler Labrum (Roosevelt, Utah) both finished there matches all square, while Jeremy Pack (Salt Lake City, Utah) defeated Tai Reynolds, 3&2, to keep the Aggies within striking distance midway through the competition. However, Southern Utah's Matt McArthur defeated USU's Toph Peterson (Logan, Utah), 2 up, in the seventh match to secure the win for the Thunderbirds.

Despite knowing the outcome, Utah State finished its final three matches well by scoring 2.5 points as Brandon Broadhead (Brigham City, Utah) defeated Tim Hawkins, 4&2, and Tyler Munson (Columbia, S.C) finished all square with Nate Page, while Devin Daniels (Hyde Park, Utah) defeated Eric Nilsson 2 up, thanks in part to an chip-in eagle on the par-four 18th-hole.

Utah State will conclude its fall tournament in Palm Springs, Calif., on Nov. 10-11 when it participates in an invitational hosted by the U.S. Air Force Academy.
