Aggie Golfers Open 2009 Spring Season At Pat Hicks Thunderbird Invitational Monday

LOGAN, Utah - Utah State's men's golf team will begin its 2009 spring season on Monday, Feb. 9 at the fifth annual Pat Hicks Thunderbird Invitational hosted by Southern Utah University. The two-day tournament will be held at the Sunbrook Golf Course in St. George, Utah.
The 36-hole tournament will be played on Monday and Tuesday over the Point and Black Rock nines at Sunbrook. The tournament will play at par-72 over the 6,758-yard layout.
Fourteen teams are scheduled to compete this year, including Boise State, Cal State Northridge, College of Charleston, Denver, Dixie State, Grand Canyon, Oral Roberts, San Jose State, Southern Utah, UC Riverside, Utah State, Utah Valley, Washington State and Weber State.
During its fall season, Utah State posted four straight top 10 finishes including a seventh-place finish at the Bill Cullum Invitational in Simi Valley, Calif., as Daniels placed third individually with an eight-under par 208. Daniels led USU with an 18-hole scoring average of 74.16 during the fall.
Last year, Utah State finished in 16th-place at the Pat Hicks Thunderbird Invitational with a 41-over par 617 (309-308). Kentucky claimed the team championship in 2008 with a final score of 14-under 562.
