Aggie Golfers Open 2014 Spring Season at Pat Hicks Thunderbird Invitational

Utah State's men's golf team will begin its 2014 spring season on Monday, Feb. 10 at the 10th annual Pat Hicks Thunderbird Invitational hosted by Southern Utah University. The two-day tournament will be held at the Sunbrook Golf Club in St. George, Utah.
The 36-hole tournament will be contested over the Point and Black Rock nines. The tournament will play at par-72 over the 6,781-yard layout.
Cal Poly claimed the team championship last year with an 8-over 584. The 2013 individual champion was decided by a playoff as Utah State's Tanner Higham, Charleston's Zach Munroe and Cal Poly's Camden Price all shot 2-under par 142 in regulation. Price prevailed in a six-hole playoff to claim medalist honors.
This year's 10-team field includes Boise State, Cal State Northridge, Dixie State, North Dakota, Oral Roberts, Seattle, Utah State, Utah Valley, Weber State and host Southern Utah.
During its fall season, Utah State played in five tournaments with its best finish coming at the Utah Invitational as it tied for second-place out of nine teams.
Jeon led Utah State during the fall season as he had a stroke average of 71.47 over 15 rounds, including winning the Utah Invitational with a collegiate-best 7-under 206 (67-71-68). Higham had a stroke average of 72.13 over 15 rounds last fall and won the Boise State hosted Dash Thomas Memorial with a collegiate-best 8-under 205 (71-67-67). Miller had a stroke average of 76.50 over six rounds last fall, while Coburn had a stroke average of 76.67 over 12 rounds and Platke had a stroke average of 78.66 over three rounds.
Last year, Utah State finished tied for sixth-place at the Pat Hicks Thunderbird Invitational with an 18-over par 594 (294-290). Along with Higham tying for first with his 2-under 142 (70-72), Jeon finished tied for 12th with a 3-over 147 (71-76) and Platke tied for 71st with a 13-over 157 (84-73).
