Aggie Golfers Continue 2014 Spring Season at South Dakota Hosted Jackrabbit Invitational

LOGAN, Utah - Utah State's men's golf team will continue its 2014 spring season on Monday, Mar. 17 at the fifth-annual South Dakota hosted Jackrabbit Invitational. The two-day, 54-hole tournament will be held at the Primm Valley Golf Club in Primm, Nev. The course will play at par-72 over the 7,131-yard layout.
Joining Utah State in the 15-team field will be Arkansas State, North Dakota, North Dakota State, Northern Iowa, Oakland, Oral Roberts, Seattle, South Dakota State, Southern Illinois-Edwardsville, UNLV, Utah State, Utah Valley, Weber State, Youngstown State and host South Dakota.
Jeon leads Utah State with a stroke average of 72.25 over 20 rounds this year, while Higham has a stroke average of 72.40 over 20 rounds as well. Schmaltz has a stroke average of 76.13 over 15 rounds, Miller has a stroke average of 76.82 over 11 rounds, and Platke has a stroke average of 78.13 over eight rounds this year.
During its last tournament, Utah State finished in sixth-place out of nine teams with a 60-over 924 (308-310-306) at the Cal State Fullerton hosted Folino Invitational on Feb. 17-18. Higham finished tied for ninth for USU with a 7-over 223 (76-74-73) for his fourth top 10 finish this year and the 10th of his career. Jeon finished tied for 34th with a 17-over 233 (78-77-77), while Miller tied for 36th with a 19-over 235 (76-78-81). Platke finished in 38th-place with a 21-over 237 (78-83-76), and sophomore Brennan Coburn tied for 41st with a 23-over 239 (79-80-80).
On the season, Utah State has competed in seven tournaments and has recorded four top five finishes and six top 10 finishes.
