Utah State Heads To Las Vegas For 2012 WAC Golf Championships

LOGAN, Utah - Utah State's men's golf team will travel to Las Vegas, Nev., this week to compete in the 2012 Club Glove Western Athletic Conference Championship set to begin on Monday, April 30.
Teams will play a total of 54 holes during the three-day tournament with the first round scheduled to begin at 7 a.m. (PT) Monday. The tournament will be played at the Rio Secco Golf Club, which is a par-72 course measuring 7,332 yards.
Utah State is one of eight teams competing for the WAC championship and the winner will secure a spot in one of three NCAA Regional Championships. USU finished ninth at last year's championship held at the Rio Secco Golf Club, while New Mexico State finished first.
Competing for Utah State will be senior Chanse Godderidge (Smithfield, Utah), sophomore Tanner Higham (Shelley, Idaho), and freshmen Brennan Coburn (Layton, Utah), Tanner Jenson (Parker, Colo.) and Andrew Paulson (Sandy, Utah).
Utah State, who is paired with Fresno State, will have the first tee time of the day.
Higham leads the team with a scoring average of 75.00, while Coburn has a stroke average of 75.23, followed by Jenson (75.35), Paulson (75.82) and Godderidge (76.31).
Of Utah State's five golfers scheduled to compete at this year's championships, Godderidge is the only Aggie who played at last year's WAC Championship as he finished 43rd with a 30-over 246 (81-81-84). Godderidge also finished in 30th-place at the 2010 WAC Championships with a 12-over 228 (76-72-80).
