LOGAN, Utah - Five current members of Utah State's golf team qualified for the 110th Utah State Amateur Championships on Monday at the Northern Qualifier held at the Logan Golf & Country Club.

The Utah State Amateur will be held at the Soldier Hollow Golf Course in Midway from July 9-13.

Leading the way for Utah State on Monday was senior Toph Peterson (Logan, Utah) who fired a nine-under 62, which is the best round by any of the 91 golfers who have already qualified for the upcoming championships.

Senior Devin Daniels (Hyde Park, Utah) finished third overall with a three-under 68, while sophomore Dan Heath (Smithfield, Utah) shot an even-par 71, and senior Tyler Labrum (Roosevelt, Utah) and junior Thad Truman (Blackfoot, Idaho) both shot a three-over 74.

Daniels and Labrum will both be playing in their second straight Utah State Amateur Championship, while Heath, Peterson and Truman will all be playing in their first.

Utah State had six players qualify for the championships in 2006.
