LOGAN, Utah - Utah State golfer and top-seeded Braydon Swapp advanced to the Round of 32 at the 119th Utah State Amateur Championships, defeating 64th-seeded Nathan Wunderli, 1-up, on Wednesday morning during the Round of 64 at the Ogden Golf & Country Club.

Swapp earned medalist honors after finishing with a two-day total of 9-under 133 during stroke-play qualifying earlier this week.

However, the native of Ogden, Utah, quickly found himself in trouble on Wednesday as Wunderli was 3-up after the first four holes and held that same advantage after 11 holes. Swapp proceeded to win the next four holes to take a 1-up lead heading to the 16th hole.

Wunderli squared up the match on the 16th hole and the two golfers halved the 17th. Swapp won the match on the par-3 18th with a birdie.

Swapp will now take on 33rd-seeded Robert Mitchell, who defeated 32nd-seeded Thomas Young in 20 holes, on Thursday at 7:30 a.m.

Two other Aggies also advanced to the Round of 32.

Chase Lansford, seeded 57th, moved on after upsetting eighth-seeded Ryan Brimley, 4 and 2, while 13th seeded Andy Hess eliminated 52nd-seeded Mitchell Schow, Jr., 4 and 3.

Lansford and Brimley were all square after the first nine holes, but Lansford won three of the next four holes and never looked back. The native of Colleyville, Texas, will now face 25th-seeded Tanner Taft on Thursday at 7:48 a.m. Taft defeated 40th-seeded Jayce Frampton, 3 and 2.

Hess never trailed in his match with Schow. The native of Idaho Falls, Idaho, was 3-up after five holes and 4-up through 12. He will now face 20th-seeded Kyler Dearden on Thursday at 8:15 a.m. Dearden beat 45th-seeded Jerimie Montgomery, 2 and 1.

Both the Rounds of 32 and 16 will take place Thursday, followed by the quarterfinals and semifinals on Friday. The final two golfers standing will play a 36-hole championship match Saturday.
