Men's Golf Hosts Southern Utah This Weekend

Oct. 19, 2007

LOGAN, Utah - Utah State's men's golf team will be home this weekend when it hosts Southern Utah University at the Logan Golf & Country Club, in their lone home match of the season on October 20-21. The Aggies will be facing the Thunderbirds for the fourth consecutive year in a Ryder Cup-style duel on Saturday and Sunday.

Play will begin on Saturday at 9:30 a.m. with 18 holes of four-ball (two-man best ball) in the morning and 18 holes of two-man alternate shot in the afternoon. The event will conclude on Sunday with individual match play starting at 9:30 a.m.

Utah State defeated Southern Utah, 7-6, last year in Cedar City to record its first win in the short history of the serious.

The first day will feature five four-ball matches in the morning and five alternate shot competitions in the afternoon. On Sunday, five singles matches will conclude the event.

Utah State's 10-player team will consist of Brandon Broadhead, Devin Daniels, Chanse Godderidge, Dan Heath, Tyler Labrum, Tyler Munson, Jeremy Pack, Toph Peterson, Alex Putnam and Thad Truman.

Daniels leads the Aggies this season with a scoring average of 73.6 and will look to continue his dominance in this tournament after scoring three points for the Aggies in last year's duel. Other Aggies who competed in this event last year include Broadhead and who helped secure two points for USU, while Putnam secured one point.

After the duel, Utah State will have a bit of a break before concluding the fall portion of its schedule with trip to Palm Springs, Calif., to participate in a two-day tournament hosted by the U.S. Air Force Academy on Nov. 10-11.
