USU Men's Tennis Defeated Montana State, 4-3, On Friday

The Utah State men's tennis defeated Montana State, 4-3, on Friday in Boise, Idaho. The Aggies improve to 1-2 on the season, while MSU falls to 0-1 overall.
"The guys battled hard, and every time we play Montana State it's a highly competitive match." Utah State head coach Christian Wright said. "It was a good win for them."
The Aggies took the doubles point winning at No. 1 and No. 2, while USU also won at No. 1, No. 2 and No. 5 singles to clinch the victory.
Freshman Jakob Asplund defeated MSU's Kyle McDonald, 7-6, 6-1, at No. 1 singles, while USU sophomore Oscar Ericsson beat Jakub Dybala, 6-3, 6-2, at No. 2 singles. Utah State senior Mike Banks picked up the third singles point at No. 5, winning, 6-3, 1-6, 6-3, against Justin Hauck.
In double action, Asplund paired up with senior Jonas Tyden to defeat MSU's Kyle McDonald and Jakub Dybala, 8-1, at No. 1 and Ericsson teamed with USU senior Fernando Gallegos beating Hauck and Pawel Turzanski, 9-7, at No. 2.
The Aggies continue action on, Saturday Jan. 26 at the University of Utah at 5 p.m.
