LAS CRUCES, N.M. - Utah State men's tennis was denied it's first win of the season by Texas-A&M Corpus Christi on Saturday, as USU was defeated, 7-0. A&M-Corpus Christi continued to play at a high level agianst the Aggies, after they defeated No. 53 New Mexico State earlier this week.
"These last two matches against New Mexico State and Corpus Christi are two of the toughest teams we are going to face all year," said USU assistant coach Bryan Marchant. "This was a very good outdoor team we faced today and we were unable to gain any momentum against them, they are a good team."
Utah State was unable to capture a set against the Islanders. In doubles play, Texas A&M-Corpus Christi took control early was would not relent, capturing all three doubles matches and taking the early advantage over USU.
The Aggies could not halt the momentum TAMU-CC gained in doubles play and failed to capture a singles set. Freshman Marcus Fritz was held out of singles action against Saturday after injuring his shoulder on Friday against New Mexico State.
Utah State will return the friendly indoor confines of the Sports Academy and Racquet Club, as it looks to capture it's first win of the season against Montana State on February 2.
