No.75 Utah State Men's Tennis Earns Second Win Over Idaho State, 5-2

POCATELLO, Idaho - Aggies took the early lead against the Bengals sweeping all three doubles matches. USU senior Bryan Marchant and sophomore Sven Poslusny set the tone early defeating ISU's juniors Dan Buckingham and Dakota Pate at the No. 1 spot, 8-3.
Leading the Aggies in singles action was senior Jakob Asplund, who won in straight-sets against the Bengals' Dakota Pate, at the No. 2 spot. Asplund has won his last two matches in straight-set victories. Poslusny broke out of an early season slump in thrilling fashion by defeating ISU's Pate, in three-sets after losing the first set in a tie-break, 6-7 (3-7). Poslusny battled back in the following two sets, 6-4, 6-2, to capture his first singles victory this season.
Senior Bryan Marchant sealed the win for the Aggies by defeating the Bengals' sophomore Colton Pate in staight-sets, 6-4, 7-5. Also capturing a victory in singles action for the Aggies was senior Alex Thatcher, 6-3, 5-7, 10-5.
Up next the Aggies will travel to Salt Lake City to take on the University of Utah on Friday Jan. 28 at 5 p.m., at the Eccles Tennis Center. The Aggies will be looking to avenge a 5-2 loss to the Utes last season. Utah is 1-0 this season, the Utes are led by junior Benito Suriano and sophomore Dmytro Mamedov who are the veterans of a roster with no seniors and is completed with six freshmen.
