Utah State Men's Tennis Loses To Northern Arizona, 4-0, on Sunday

LAS VEGAS, Nev. - Utah State men's tennis concluded its weekend with a 4-0 loss to Northern Arizona here Sunday in a neutral court match. The match which was originally scheduled for Saturday, but was postponed due to inclement weather. Due to the postponement, the two teams agreed to play first to four points rather than playing all seven. USU is now 0-4 on the season with the loss.
In singles competition three matches were completed. Utah State junior Fredrick Peterson lost to P. Schimmelbauer in straight sets (6-1, 6-0) at the No. 2 spot. USU sophomore Marcus Fritz also lost in straight sets at the No. 3 spot to Dominic Bermudez (6-4, 6-0). And at No. 5 singles, sophomore Curran Wearmouth lost to Robert Martin in straight sets (6-2, 6-4).
The three matches that were not finished were at the No. 1 spot, as USU senior Sven Poslusny took on Shaun Waters. At the No. 4 spot, as USU sophomore Matt Sweet competed against Kester Black. And at the No. 6 spot as Aggie junior Andrew Whiting went up against Alan Barrios.
In doubles play, Poslusny and Fritz lost to Waters and Martin at the first position, 8-6. Peterson and junior Brandon Nielson lost to Bermudez and Schimmelbauer at the second position, 8-2. At the third position, the match between Whiting and Sweet and Trevor Unger and Black was left unfinished.
Utah State returns to action when it hosts Weber State on Wednesday, Feb. 6 at the Sports Academy and Racquet Club at 12 pm.
