USU Men's Tennis Falls, 4-3, To Idaho On Saturday
Feb. 9, 2008 LAS CRUCES, N.M. - Utah State men's tennis fell, 4-3, to Idaho on Saturday at the Las Cruces Tennis Center. The Aggies are 1-5 on the season with the loss. USU took the doubles point winning at No. 1 and No. 2. Freshman Jakob Asplund and senior Jonas Tyden teamed up to defeat UI's Stanislav Glukhov and Paulo Miranda, 8-3 in the No. 1 doubles slot. Senior Fernando Gallegos and sophomore Oscar Ericsson beat the Vandals' Timothy Huynh and Robert Chalkley, 8-1 at No. 2. In singles action, Asplund defeated Idaho's Glukhov at No. 1, 6-7, 7-6, 10-7, while Ericsson defeated the Vandals' Huynh, 6-2, 6-4, in the No. 2 slot. USU's Tyden battled three sets in the No. 4 spot falling, 6-3, 3-6, 7-6, to Andrew Dobbs. "I was really proud of how hard they worked," said USU head coach Christian Wright. "We lost, but it was not for lack of effort." The Aggies wrap up action in Las Cruces on Sunday, Feb 10, against host New Mexico State at the Las Cruces Tennis Center at 9 a.m. Idaho 4, Utah State 3
