LOGAN, Utah - Utah State men's tennis lost to in-state foe Weber State, 5-2, Wednesday in USU's home opener at the Sports Academy and Racquet Club.

Freshman Jakob Asplund won at No. 1 singles, defeating Weber State's Henning Hipp, 2-6, 6-2, 6-2, while senior Jonas Tyden won at No. 4 singles, 6-4, 6-7, 6-4. In No. 2 doubles, sophomore Oscar Ericsson and senior Fernando Gallegos won their match, 8-6.

The loss drops the Aggies to 1-7 on the season while the Wildcats improve to 3-5.

Utah State will continue action in another home match on Friday, Feb. 15 against Portland State (0-4), with action starting at 1 p.m. at the Sports Academy and Racquet Club.
