
Jakob Asplund And Oscar Ericsson Fall In Doubles Quarterfinals At Boise State Open

Utah State men's tennis competed at the Boise State Open in Boise, Idaho over the weekend with freshman Jakob Asplund posting a 1-1 record in singles action and a 1-1 mark in doubles.
Ninth-seeded Asplund defeated Jake Beherns (UNA), 6-1, 6-1, in the open singles round of 32. Asplund battled Boise State's third-seeded Piotr Dilaj in the round of 16, with Dilaj winning 6-1, 5-7, 12-10.
In doubles action Asplund paired up with sophomore Oscar Ericsson at the No. 5 seed and defeated Morgan Shepherd and Garrett Patton (UNA), 8-4, in the round of 16. The duo fell in the quarterfinals to the fourth-seeded team of Blake Bowell and Eric Sheldon (UNA), 8-2.
USU sophomores Alex Thatcher and Matt Searle beat Tal Dewitt and Brad Henson (UNA), 10-8, 6-3, in the open doubles round of 32. Boise State's duo of Jamaal Hepburn and Simikic Stefan defeated Thatcher and Searle, 8-6, in the round of 16.
The Aggie men's team will continue action next weekend as they compete in the Brigham Young Invitational in Provo, Utah, starting on Thursday, Sept. 13.
