PROVO, Utah - Utah State sophomore Oscar Ericsson and senior Jonas Tyden won in round two of singles consolations at Utah Fall Tennis Classis hosted by Brigham Young University.

In day two of the classic, Ericsson beat John Pearce, 6-3, 6-3, and will compete in the third round of consolations tomorrow. Tyden beat fellow Aggie sophomore Alex Thatcher, 6-2, 6-1, and will move on to round three as well.

Freshman, Jakob Asplund, battled in the singles round of 16 against first-seeded James Ludlow but fell, 7-5, 6-3. Senior Fernando Gallegos lost in the second round of consolations, 6-1, 6-2, to Evan Urbina.

Tomorrow is the third and final day of the classic. Tyden will take on Travis Covington in the third round of singles consolation and Ericsson will take on Nicholas Ballou. Gallegos and Tyden are also scheduled to play in the first round of doubles consolation against Douglas Alves and Christopher Williams. Sophomore Matthew Searle and Thatcher will take on Paul Heapy and Cal Larson in doubles consolation as well.
