Utah State's Jonas Tyden Falls in Quarterfinals in Singles Consolation

PROVO, Utah - Utah State senior Jonas Tyden fell in the quarterfinals singles consolation in the final day at the Utah Fall Tennis Classic hosted by Brigham Young University. Tyden entered the classic with a first round bye in the singles consolation draw. In the second round he defeated fellow Aggie sophomore Alex Thatcher, 6-2, 6-2. Tyden went on to defeat Weber State's Travis Covington, 6-3, 6-1. He then headed into quarterfinals with a 2-0 record and fell to BYU's A.J. Young, 6-3, 6-1. Thatcher was victorious in his first round win over Andrew Yates but fell to Tyden in round two. Aggie sophomore Oscar Ericsson beat Jordan Barlow in the first round of singles consolation, 6-2, 6-2. Ericsson advanced to the second round and defeated John Pearce, 6-3, 6-3. In the third round Ericsson fell to Nicholas Ballou, 6-1, 6-3. Ericsson finished with a 2-2 record on the weekend USU will conclude its fall schedule in the middle of October as it competes in the ITA Regionals in Las Vegas, Nev., from Oct. 17-21.
