USU Men's Tennis Finishes Competition At BYU Invitational

PROVO, Utah - Hannes Schenk led the Aggies in the final day of competition at the BYU Invitational here Saturday. Schenk made it to the finals of the singles consolation bracket before losing to Marek Gebicki of Montana State. USU finished with a 13-16 record in singles play and 2-7 in doubles.
Schenk started well in the finals winning the first set 6-2 before losing the final two sets 2-6, 4-6. Schenk finished with a 4-2 record in singles play.
Earlier in the day Schenk met teammate Jason Trask in the semifinals, defeating him in three sets. Schenk took early control of the match winning the first set 6-2. Trask responded by reversing the score in the second set 6-2. Schenk returned to his winning ways in the third and final set winning by a 6-3 score. Trask finished the Invitational with a 4-2 singles record.
"I was really proud of [Schenk and Trask]," said head coach Chris Wright. "They really played their guts out today. It was hot but they gave it their all."
Up next for the Aggie men is the Rolex Regional Oct. 22-26, at Las Vegas, Nev.
