Aggie Men Led By Andrew Whiting on Day One of Weber State Invitational

OGDEN, Utah - Utah State men's tennis started the fall season off with a pair of wins from senior Andrew Whiting at the Weber State Invitational in Ogden, Friday.
In Flight C, Whiting earned victories over Anthony Trabert (6-2, 6-1) of host Weber State, and Austin Miller (6-2, 7-6) from Idaho State. Whiting will continue in the singles draw Saturday. Senior Matt Thatcher will compete in the consolation draw Saturday after dropping two close sets to fall to Montana State's Kenny Dodd (6-3, 6-4).
In Flight B, freshman Tomas Cosmai stretched his match to three sets before losing to in-state rival Weber State's Sanjay Goswami (6-1, 3-6, 6-3). Junior Curran Wearmouth lost a closely-contested match (7-5, 6-4) to Weber's Caio Poitena.
In the doubles draw, Wearmouth and Whiting lost in the first round to Montana State's Markus Shleuter and Javier-Martin Morillas (8-6), while Cosmai and Thatcher lost to Weber State's Todd Fought and Jakub Gewert (8-5).
All the Aggies will be in action Saturday in either the main draws or consolation draws.
