Utah State Men's Tennis Earns Two Doubles Wins at Weber State Invitational

OGDEN, Utah - After a rough start to the second day of the Weber State Invitational, the Utah State men's tennis team finished on a high note with two victories in the doubles consolation draw.
After losing earlier in the day to Idaho State's Jamey Swiggert and Austin Miller (8-5), Junior Curran Wearmouth and senior Andrew Whiting won their final match by a score of 8-3 over a combination team of Montana State's Kenny Dodd and Idaho State's Cody Miller. Freshman Tomas Cosmai and senior Matt Thatcher also bounced back after a loss to host school Weber State's Ryan Garner and Anthony Trabert (8-5) by winning their last match of the day over Montana State's Aaron Farmer and Harry James (8-4).
The continuation of the singles draw wasn't as friendly to the Aggies as Cosmai lost a Flight B consolation draw matchup against Idaho State's Bjorn Scheepbouer (6-1, 6-2). Wearmouth also dropped a close Flight B consolation draw match to James (7-5, 7-5).
In Flight C, Whiting lost a semifinal match to in-state rival Weber State's Landon Barlow (6-3, 6-3), while Thatcher lost a consolation matchup to Miller (7-5, 6-7 (8-4)).
On Sunday, Cosmai and Wearmouth will face off for seventh place in Flight B, while Whiting will compete for third place of Flight C. Thatcher will compete for 11th place of Flight C on Sunday, as well.
